Requirements

Current registration with SANC as a Registered/Professional Nurse
Prior scrubbing in theatre is a prerequisite
Willingness to work shifts in accordance with the requirements of the Unit
Competent in the demonstration and assessment of all clinical procedures and management of risks
Basic knowledge of stock control principles
The ability to identify and report near-misses and adverse events
Knowledge of clinical procedures, the scientific nursing process
A good understanding and application of the nursing scope of practice and knowledge of patient care
Be able to function as an effective member of the nursing team by facilitating team effectiveness

Adheres to Patient’s Rights at all times
Prevents, reports and manages Medico-legal risks
Patient records and registers meet legal requirements
Control of stock and equipment

Requirements

A Grade 12 or relevant experience
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Willingness to work shifts in accordance with the requirements of the facility
Customer-centred mind-set that acknowledges the value of the customer
Knowledge and application of patient administration systems, policies and procedures
The ability to work under pressure
Good interpersonal skills, the ability to deal with people and be in the frontline

Key Outputs

Managing and maintaining theatre bookings. Liaising with doctors, secretaries and theatre management to ensure efficiency and maximum utilisation of time and resources for the perioperative environment
Admits patients by gathering and recording surgeon, patient, and payment responsibility information; answering questions; providing hospital and hospital services information.
Is responsible for clinical coding and correct submission of accounts, tariff billing as well as other duties of an administrative nature.
Hospital reception duties.
